Tressa Andrews - Notchcliff Nature Programs Director & Lead Teacher/Forest School Guide
Tressa is honored to serve as the Director of Notchcliff Nature Programs also teach in the Homeschool in the Forest Program. She is a lifelong resident of Harford County, MD with over 25 years of experience in education, 20 of those dedicated to Preschool, along with a deep passion for early childhood development and nature-based learning. Tressa holds a B.A. in Early and Elementary Education from Notre Dame of Maryland University and is a Level 1 and 2 certified Nature-Based and Forest Teacher through ANBE. Prior to joining Notchcliff, she served as a Preschool Director for five years. She believes that when young children learn through nature, they build creativity, empathy, and a meaningful connection to the world around them, which is an essential foundation for growing into kind, responsible members of their communities. Outside the classroom, Tressa enjoys photography, bird watching, exploring the outdoors, and engaging in all forms of art.
Leena Singh - Notchcliff Lead Teacher and Forest School Guide
Leena is a second year teacher at Notchcliff Nature Programs working in both the Homeschool in the Forest Program and the Preschool classes. She was first introduced to nature-based education several years ago while working as an environmental educator at the Robinson Nature Center. A coworker there mentioned she might connect with these teaching modalities; turns out she was right and it stuck ever since. After a couple of detours - including a B.Sc. in psychology and pre-medical studies from the University of Maryland, obtaining my M.B.A. at Loyola University of Maryland, and even a couple of years working at T. Rowe Price she eventually found her way back to the place she always belonged - in the forest with the kids. Leena says that Notchcliff truly changed the trajectory of her life. The blend of outdoor, play-based/child-led learning, and the strong emphasis on community all inspire her every day to continue on the teaching journey. She is constantly witness to and amazed by the kind, creative, and thoughtful people her students are growing into as she learns alongside them to listen to the true teacher - the natural world around us.
